PPA1500 Brisbane is the biggest professional pickleball event ever staged in Australia. Six days, the deepest draw the country has hosted, and the largest ranking-point allocation on the calendar — played out at the Queensland Tennis Centre, home of the Brisbane International.

The world’s best professionals, Australia’s top-ranked players, a Senior Pro division, and amateur draws from 2.5 through to open — all on the same site, across the same week.

What Is a PPA1500?

The PPA Tour ranks its events by tier. The number is the ranking points awarded to the winner — and it is the shorthand for how big the event is.

• PPA125 — regional event. One or two days, domestic field.
• PPA250 — state-level event. Larger draw, broadcast coverage.
• PPA1000 — national championship scale. Full professional draw, showcase court, significant prize purse.
• PPA1500 — the top of the Australian calendar. International field, six-day format, stadium venue, and the largest points and prize money on offer. Brisbane carries a $500,000 USD professional purse.

Points determine world ranking and seeding. A 1500 is where a season is decided — which is why Brisbane closes the year.

Who’s Playing

A 1500 draw pulls internationally. The professional field brings world-ranked players from the US-based PPA Tour together with Australia’s best, competing for $500,000 USD across Pro and Senior Pro divisions.

Alongside them, amateur draws run from 2.5 through to open — so club players compete on the same site, in the same week, as the professionals.

The first eight professionals confirmed for Brisbane. Further names are announced through official PPA Tour Australia channels as the field is finalised.

The Venue

The Queensland Tennis Centre sits on the Brisbane River at Tennyson, a short run from the CBD. It is a purpose-built international tournament facility — 23 ITF-standard courts and the only site in Australia with all three Grand Slam surfaces.

Finals are played on Pat Rafter Arena: a show court seating up to 5,500 under a retractable roof, best known as the home of the Brisbane International.

Around it, the site runs four undercover show courts and 20 outdoor courts — 25 courts in play across the week, so there is always live pickleball in front of you.

New to Pickleball? Here’s What You’ll See

Pickleball is played on a court roughly a third the size of a tennis court, with a solid paddle and a perforated plastic ball. It is the fastest-growing sport in Australia — and at professional level it is fast, tactical and loud.

What a spectator day looks like

• Early days (Tue–Thu) — amateur draws and pro qualifying across the 20 outdoor courts. Best value, most matches, walk-up access.
• Middle days (Fri–Sat) — Pro and Senior Pro main draws move onto the undercover show courts. Arena play begins.
• Finals (Sunday) — championship matches on Pat Rafter Arena, under broadcast.

Queensland Tennis Centre, 190 King Arthur Terrace, Tennyson QLD 4105. On-site parking is available, and the venue is served by bus and rideshare from the Brisbane CBD. Gates, session times and the full order of play are published closer to the event.

Player entries are open now through PickleballTournaments.com. Divisions fill in order of entry and close when full.

Tickets, pro clinics and hospitality release to the VIP list first. Joining costs nothing.
