| October 12, 2025
The PPA Tour Australia’s QLD Pickleball Slam delivered four days of gripping action across Pro and Masters divisions, and the season’s title chase “The Race”has never looked tighter. With just one event left on the calendar, each match mattered more than ever.
Pro Division Re-Cap
- In Men’s Pro Singles (5.0+), Hong Kit Wong staged a thrilling comeback, turning around after losing the first game to defeat Harrison Brown 7-11, 11-4, 11-9.
- The Women’s Pro Singles final pitted Andie Dikosavljevic against Roos van Reek in a see-saw duel. Dikosavljevic claimed gold with a scoreline of 11-4, 10-12, 11-0, closing out the third game in dominant fashion.
- In Pro Women’s Doubles, Dikosavljevic teamed with Jamie Haas to take the title over van Reek / Somer Dalla-Bona in straight games, 11-8, 13-11.
- Pro Mixed Doubles saw Danni-elle Townsend / Joseph Wild triumph over Roos van Reek / George Wall, 11-5, 11-9.

Dikosavljevic left Brisbane with two titles (Women’s Singles & Doubles), while Wong proved doubly potent in both singles and doubles.
Masters (50+): Re-Cap
Although Pro divisions garnered the headlines, the Pro Masters (50+) bracket delivered its own share of drama, demonstrating that seasoned players still bring elite-level intensity to the courts.
- In Masters Men’s Singles (50+), a battle between Brad Kluss and Tek Tea was fought with Kluss taking the Championship.
- In Masters Mixed Doubles (50+, 4.0+), Naomi Amakawa / Ivan Stride faced Anna-Lise Bolton / Martin Clark in another classic mixed match up which saw the Sydney siders take the Gold.
- The Masters Women’s Doubles (50+, 4.0+) saw Mandy Corbett / Naomi Amakawa compete against Anna-Lise Bolton / Elizabeth Hilan, with the former pairing prevailing in a very tight battle.
- The Women’s Singles was a very close affair with Miki Masui taking the eventual honors and the gold over Rosa Morris.
It’s clear the Masters field brought its own intensity, with players contesting every point and stage of the draw getting those very important Race points
The Race: How It Works & What’s at Stake
The PPA Tour Australia’s player ranking system, the PPA Rankings, serves as the official, merit-based method for seeding and entry across all Pro and Pro Masters divisions. Rankings are displayed in two formats:
- 52 Week Rankings: total points accumulated over the past year.
- The Race: points earned since the start of the current calendar year.
For The Race, an athlete’s best two results from each event (e.g., singles + mixed) count toward their total, with their best eight tournaments from the season forming their final ranking.
This year’s PPAA Race carries a total prize pool of $125,000, rewarding the top finishers across Pro and Senior Pro divisions as follows:
| Placement | Pro Male | Pro Female | Senior Pro Male (50+) | Senior Pro Female (50+) |
| 1st | $35,000 | $35,000 | $3,000 | $3,000 |
| 2nd | $12,500 | $12,500 | $1,500 | $1,500 |
| 3rd | $5,000 | $5,000 | $1,000 | $1,000 |
| 4th | $3,000 | $3,000 | – | – |
| 5th | $1,500 | $1,500 | – | – |
Note: Non-PPAA/MLPA signed players receive 50% of the listed Race payouts.
With this prize structure on the line, every point from Brisbane carries immense weight as players look ahead to the final stop of the season.

The Race Heats Up Ahead of Melbourne Pickleball Cup
With only one event remaining in the 2025 PPA Tour Australia calendar, the Race for the season title has reached its most thrilling stage yet. Brisbane’s QLD Pickleball Slam shook up the leaderboard, but the final showdown in Melbourne will decide who claims ultimate glory.
Women’s Pro Division
- Roos van Reek leads the field with a strong points buffer, but Somer Dalla-Bona and Andie Dikosavljevic remain within striking distance.
- Expect intense battles for the runner-up positions, where a single match could reshape the podium.
- Outside the top three, a few players could still make surprising leaps with strong doubles or singles performances.
Men’s Pro Division
- George Wall enters Melbourne as the frontrunner, with Joseph Wild close on his heels.
- Hong Kit Wong holds a slim but real chance to leapfrog into the title race if results swing in his favor.
- Beyond the top three, other contenders are realistically competing for Top 5 positions, setting up high-stakes matches across all courts.
Pro Masters – Top Spot Race Overview
Men’s 50+
- Martin Clark holds a comfortable lead, making him the frontrunner for the season crown.
- Ivan Stride, Tek Tea, and Shane Wilson remain within reach — a win in Melbourne combined with slip-ups from Clark could shake up the standings.
- Outside the top four, others are realistically competing for podium spots rather than the overall title.
Women’s 50+
- Naomi Amakawa leads a tight field, but Terrie Robson and Anna-Lise Bolton are hot on her heels.
- Just a single strong performance from any of the chasing pack could create a dramatic shift.
- The rest of the field is battling for Top 3 positions and end-of-season bonus rewards.
The Stakes
With up to 1,500 points available per event at the Melbourne Pickleball Cup, every match will be crucial to determine the season champions. The Race is tight, the margins are narrow, and the excitement is building.
Who will rise to the occasion? The final event promises drama, surprises, and crowning moments for Australia’s elite pickleball stars.
