Aligned Globally, Competing Locally: PPA Tour Australia Joins the Unified PPA Rankings for 2026
| January 16, 2026
In 2026, PPA Tour Australia events will operate as part of one global ranking system, one leaderboard, and one clear pro pathway, ensuring that results earned in Australia contribute directly to international standings.
PPA Tour Australia is pleased to confirm a series of key updates to the 2026 competition framework, reinforcing Australia’s position within the unified global PPA ecosystem. These changes are designed to align the Australian competition with the global PPA rankings and player pathways, strengthen competitive integrity, and deliver greater clarity and value for players, teams, fans, and partners.
PPA Tour Australia Pro Events Structure 2026
Points & Prize Money
All Pro events in 2026 will be officially classified within the PPA points structure, ensuring direct alignment with PPA Tour events worldwide.
- PPA 125 Events
- Award up to 125 PPA points
- Feature prize money similar to Cup-level events from the 2025
This structure ensures Australian Pro performances feed directly into the global PPA Rankings, connecting local competition with the international race to the top.
Draw Formats
- PPA 125 Events – Pro draws will be conducted using a double-elimination format across a 3-day main draw. The loser of the winners’ bracket semi-final will play off for the bronze medal, ensuring meaningful matches through the final stages of competition.
- PPA 250 Events (TBC) – Pro draws will run in a single-elimination progressive format across a 4-day main draw, with all medal matches contested on Championship Sunday and increased prize money.
Prize Distribution
- PPA 125: Prize money paid down to 4th place
- PPA 250 (TBC): Prize money paid down to 8th place
This structure rewards depth of performance while maintaining competitive significance across each event tier.
Pro Masters Events
There will be no Pro Masters events included in the PPA Tour Australia 2026 calendar, following less than anticipated demand during the 2025 season. From 2023 to 2025, PPA Tour Australia was proud to lead the way outside the United States by offering Pro Masters competition for athletes aged 50+. While select opportunities for 50+ players will remain in 2026, our primary focus will shift toward strengthening the junior pathway and supporting athletes aged 18 and over. This reflects the clear need to expand development opportunities for juniors, while recognising the strong and established competitive landscape already available for 50+ players across Australia in events such as the Australian Pickleball Championships, State Championships, and the Australian Masters Cup.
The PPA Tour Australia Race 2026
The PPA Tour Australia Race will continue to feature in the 2026 season, rewarding consistent performance and attendance for signed athletes throughout the year.
“The PPA Tour Australia Race”
- Open only to PPA-signed Pro players
- Points from all seven PPA Tour Australia tournaments will count
- Athletes best two event results will count at each tournament towards “The Race”
- At the conclusion of the 2026 PPA Tour Australia season, “The Race” will distribute bonus prize money to the top eight ranked male and female athletes.
Support for Non-Qualifying Players
Players or teams that do not qualify for the Pro Main Draw from the qualification event will receive a 50% credit toward their next PPA Tour Australia event, supporting progression, continued participation, and reinvestment in the pathway.
Amateur Events Structure 2026
Amateur Points
All Amateur events will award:
- 1,000 PPA Australia Points
- 1,000 Pickleball Australia-AR (Australian Ranking Points)
Format
Amateur competitions will follow a pool play format progressing into elimination finals, maximising match play, competitive balance, and overall event experience.
Juniors Participation & Growth
Expanded Junior Focus
Junior development remains a key priority for 2026. Enhancements include:
- The introduction of Junior Mixed events on Friday evenings
- A dedicated, high-energy competition window for emerging athletes and families
- The opportunity for juniors to contest for the first-ever PPA Junior Triple Crown
These initiatives strengthen the junior pathway while embedding young athletes within the broader PPA Tour Australia Pro event experience.
Pickleball Australia Executive Officer, Brendan Lee reinforced the importance of this unified approach, stating: “Since the partnership began in 2023, our relationship with PPA Tour Australia has been a tremendous success and continues to deliver meaningful outcomes for players, fans and the broader pickleball community. We are strongly aligned in our values around professionalism, integrity and the sustainable growth of the sport, and this collaboration has helped elevate the competitive landscape in Australia.
The pathways provided through PPA Tour Australia to the PPA Tour are critically important for our emerging and elite athletes, offering clear and credible opportunities to compete on the world stage. Just as importantly, we are proud to support their expansion of junior pathway initiatives in 2026 and beyond.
Looking Ahead
PPA Tour Australia’s 2026 framework delivers a clear, globally aligned competition structure where Australian events, rankings, and results connect seamlessly to the international PPA system. With unified points, meaningful pathways, and a renewed focus on performance-driven progression, every tournament matters and every point counts.
