PPA Australia Adopts UPA-A Standards for 2026 Pro Divisions and First-Ever Pro Paddle Testing
| February 23, 2026
PPA Tour Australia is proud to announce that from the 2026 season, all Pro Division events will formally adopt UPA-A standards, aligning the Australian professional competition with the global benchmark used across the international PPA landscape.
This governance evolution ensures that professional athletes competing in the PPA Tour will now “play the same way anywhere in the world”, with consistent rules, equipment standards, and enforcement protocols across all sanctioned Pro events.
Global Alignment with UPA-A
United Pickleball Association of America
Beginning March 2026:
- All Pro Division events in Australia will operate under UPA-A competition standards
- Only UPA-A certified paddles will be permitted in Pro play
- Governance, equipment testing, and compliance protocols will mirror international PPA events
This move ensures Australian professionals compete under the same conditions as their counterparts across the US, Asia and other international territories, strengthening athlete pathways and competitive integrity.
UPA-A Certified Paddle Requirement
All paddles used in PPA Tour Australia Pro Divisions must be officially UPA-A certified. This standard reinforces:
- Equipment consistency
- Performance integrity
- Athlete confidence in fair competition
- Commercial clarity for brands and manufacturers

By standardising paddle requirements, PPA Tour Australia ensures alignment with the equipment protocols used across the global PPA Tour ecosystem.
First of Its Kind Paddle Testing Program in Australia
In partnership with Pickleball Australia, PPA Tour Australia will roll out a structured paddle testing program throughout the 2026 season. This will be the first initiative of its kind in Australian professional pickleball.
The phased rollout will include:
- On-site paddle compliance checks at Pro events
- Education programs for athletes and manufacturers
- Transparent enforcement procedures
- Data-driven integrity monitoring
This initiative is designed not only to enforce compliance, but to elevate the professionalism and credibility of Australian Pro competition.
